Vigneswaran

Consultant in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery

Dr Kugajeevan Vigneswaran is a Consultant Gynaecologist and GMC-accredited Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, caring for patients at King’s Fertility and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

He graduated from St George’s, University of London in 2008 and remained in London for a decade of training in obstetrics and gynaecology across teaching hospitals including Guy’s and St Thomas’ and St George’s Hospital. Following a dedicated fellowship in assisted conception, he undertook Subspecialty Training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and King’s Fertility, leading to his dual accreditation with the General Medical Council.

Dr Vigneswaran cares for patients through the whole course of fertility treatment, with particular expertise in recurrent miscarriage and recurrent implantation failure, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis and reproductive surgery. He leads specialist clinics in reproductive endocrinology and ambulatory gynaecology, where conditions such as fibroids, polyps and intrauterine adhesions can be diagnosed. He also provides menopause care.

He has co-authored national and international clinical guidelines in fertility and early pregnancy, contributing to the standards of care that clinicians work to across the UK and internationally. He has published over 25 peer-reviewed papers alongside several book chapters on the use of ultrasound in subfertility, the treatment of subfertility, and the impact of gynaecological conditions on reproductive outcomes, and lectures regularly on reproductive medicine.

Dr Vigneswaran is currently undertaking a doctorate (DPhil) at the University of Oxford, investigating the mechanistic pathways that link polycystic ovary syndrome to miscarriage. He has a particular interest in how clinical data and emerging technologies can be used to personalise ovarian stimulation and improve IVF outcomes.

He is a member of the British Fertility Society (BFS), the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE), the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), the British Menopause Society (BMS) and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).

Baby Loss Awareness Week is a time to honour and remember those who left us too soon.

If you’re grieving, please be kind to yourself – remember there’s no right or wrong way to process your emotions. Whenever things feel too heavy to carry alone, reach out to your loved ones and support network, this week and every week.

While sperm need to be strong swimmers to reach the egg, they’re certainly not acting alone in their mission! A woman’s womb naturally contracts and relaxes to help the sperm on their way to their fallopian tubes.

It’s a team effort.

It’s true. Some of your lifestyle choices may affect which genes you pass on to your children.

Research suggests certain factors like nutrition leave ‘epigenetic marks’ on your egg or sperm cell’s DNA. These are tiny chemical footprints that affect which genes are switched on and off.

So living a healthy lifestyle may influence more than just your own life – it can affect future generations too!

Fibroids are common, benign growths that can develop in the uterus. Many people have them without experiencing any symptoms, but in some cases, they can make it harder for an embryo to implant.

As part of your initial consultation, we’ll use an ultrasound scan to check for fibroids, alongside other factors that may be affecting your fertility.

If you’re seeking answers about your fertility, call or email our team to book a consultation.
